| Bio: |  Almost everything in my blog is "Friends Only" screened. If you ask me to add you give me a little info about yourself and why you think we should add each other. My LJ friends are very dear to me. If I add you I will most likely read every entry you write, and comment on them. In return I expect some comments from you. Comment on my "Friends Only" entry to inspire me to add you~ I'm a dork and I love science. I'm studying chemical engineering at UT Austin, and I'm currently planning on pursing a PhD to eventually work R&D on advanced materials. I will make a difference in the world before I die. I love philosophy, psychology, discussing religion, and figuring out why the world works like it does. I take pictures. I volunteer when I can. I like all kinds of music. I've played clarinet for 8 years. I was pretty good. I took French in high school. The only sport I'm serious about is judo. I started in 3rd grade, and I'm currently ranked Sankyu (brown belt). I have two beautiful weimaraner dogs. I love meeting people. Usually. I'm an agnostic atheist humanist. I own a 1994 black BMW K75 motorcycle, "Tipsy". I believe we create our own meaning in this world, and I live accordingly. I push boundaries, question authority, and go against established foundations in order to figure out what life is about. Oh, and I know the meaning of life. I figured I’d write a long drawn-out introduction because personally I find them more revealing and interesting than a list of trivia. And while I do love lists, I realize that perhaps not everyone else shares my enthusiasm. I don’t add many people. I’d rather have something of a relationship with the people who read my journal rather than a bunch of random voyeurs who anonymously pick apart my life. So, if I add you I expect you to comment every now and then, and in turn I will friend you and read all the entries you write and project my own sarcastic wit onto your life as I see fit. What I write varies. I’ve been known to write about my philosophical views, religious persuasions (or anti-persuasions, as it may be), my love life, that annoying girl in that one class, the daily events of my life, my future, my aspirations, my reflections on nature and the world around me, and anything else that piques my attention at the given time. I value the opinions of my friends greatly, and am perhaps secure enough to admit I’m insecure about a lot of things. I want desperately the approval and admiration of those around me, and don’t take criticism well. Humor is my saving grace. I tend to view the universe with a sarcastic twist. I find irony in everything, and I love it that way. Anything can be funny if given the right spin, and by this fact alone I find life bearable. One of the ideas I live by is to “live my life with no regrets”. I want to take advantage of the opportunities available while I still can, and I’m very open to trying new things as long as my risk of death or horrible injury is kept to a minimum. I strive to be unique, with mixed results. I’m open to standing out, and sometimes I do so just to see the reactions from people. Sometimes life is my grand experiment, and why shouldn’t it be? I feel most comfortable though when I feel as though I am respected and admired. My friends are those I learn from, and in turn those whom I hope I can teach something. Due to a dearth of close personal relationships, I have developed into sort of a humanitarian out of necessity. I have no really close best friends, and as a result I tend to do things more for random strangers than for a close group of people. When I develop close relationships with people I will stop giving a damn about the rest of the world and focus on caring for those who are important to me. I love science, but I hate math. I’m a very conceptual, visual person. The abstract nature of mathematics is beautiful in its own way, but breaks down horribly when it is applied to the real-world, and for that I despise it. Math can make something simple into something so esoteric and complex. I dabble in photography. At times I think I have some wonderful artistic expression and creativity, while at other times I’m disgusted by my mediocrity. My other hobbies vary every month or so.
